With Jacquard Weaving, I found that it challenged me differentIy than previous projects as I was translating my drawings into weave in a more literal sense.
I created a bold and bright collection of samples suitable for the Autumn/Winter 15/16 Interiors market. I took inspiration from the idea of making thoughts- and the emotions attached to them- visable through the use of colour. In particular the process of tying a coloured ribbon onto a tree to make a wish, like the one which resided at Nunnington Hall.
As well as traditional paper drawings, I also worked directly on to glass, to get a mix of colours where the light hit the bottle. This resulted in some interesting abstract and geometric shapes which lent itself to the final collection.
